If you haven’t heard yet, I have the sad duty of informing you that, come the end of August, we will be closing our doors as a church. This is not an easy decision, but one we believe is best. There are a few reasons that led us to this conclusion. One reason is that we don’t have a space to meet for our Sunday morning gatherings at the end of the month. We have been actively searching since February and although some doors have opened up, for every viable option God seemed to close that door. Another reason is the growth factor. Although those who attend Sola are the crème of the crop, there just is not enough of us. We believe that by allowing the church to come to its conclusion, those wonderful members will be able to add their gifts and talents to other more established churches and strengthen their numbers. There are a number of other reasons that led us to this point, but I won’t belabor them all here. There are a few things I’d like you to know moving forward.

First is that we are going to have a final blow out celebration on August 25th. We’re inviting everyone and anyone who’s ever come to Sola to attend. We’re aiming to do some baby dedications, baptisms, and to close it off a big BBQ. If you have not yet been baptized, I highly encourage you to consider it and to help make this last day special by a public declaration of your faith. We’re going to have not only food, but a time of sharing and so if you’d like to help make that day even more special, please reach out to info@solabothell.com and we would love to hear from you on that day.

Next thing you should know is that another church will be taking our spot in Mobius hall, which is an answer to prayer. We wanted the mission of God to continue on there once we were gone and God has answered that prayer. The church is called Imprint Church and the pastor has spoken at Sola in the past. If you’re looking for a place to worship, you can still come to the same place, just under new management. Find out more about them here at https://imprintchurch.org/bothell/. Myself and some of the leadership will be there for their first Sunday at Cascadia and invite you to join us on September 1st.

There are a few final points of business. Some of the groups will still be meeting past August and some will still have one final time of gathering so they can properly say goodbye. If you are in a group contact your group leader about when/where these meetings might be. Also, we will still have a number of expenses leading to closing the doors, so we’re asking our congregation to still consider giving through the end of August and even for the first few weeks in September. The Downtown office will still be in operation until September 15th to allow us to handle all of the business side of things to the best of our ability. Any excess money we would have will be made a donation to the Molvars to continue their work abroad.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll get back to you as soon as we’re able. I want you all to know how wonderful this community has been and how much Carolyn and I have loved every moment of being welcomed into this church. Just because we’re closing our doors doesn’t invalidate any of the work God has done, nor does it forgo all of the amazing work he’s going to do through us in the future. I love you all and look forward to a little more time spent together.
